Art 8 students are currently completing an art history unit over 8 different artists:
The first project in this small series is a grid enlargement of Pablo Picasso's Red Armchair. You can view their progress below - click to enlarge. The next step will be adding color in a new and creative way to change the look of the original painting! Click on the completed projects below to enlarge.

7th grade students worked in groups of 4 or 5 to complete a grid enlargement of a famous piece of art! Check out the photos below by clicking to enlarge.
Art 77th graders have been busy in the art room with a variety of projects over the last few weeks! Pictured below is the most recent project "Inchies" Students worked in small groups to design a collaborative project consisting of mini-art works that create a final product with a cohesive theme. Prior to the "Inchie" group project, students completed an Art History unit focused on the following artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Edvard Munch, and Claude Monet. In small groups, students completed Grid Enlargement paintings and informative posters of six famous artworks/artists. Final results from this can be seen on this previous post. On December 1st, the 7th graders helped create holiday spirit in the art room through their 3D paper snowflake challenge! Art 88th Graders recently completed one of my favorite projects - World Landmark Magazine Mosaics! The results are fantastic! (Click on the images above to enlarge) Students in Art 8 are now working on a Logo Design Challenge (see document below). Students in my Art 7 class worked in small groups of 4 to re-create the famous art pictured below! Small groups were required to complete an informational poster to go along with their grid enlargement.
7th Grade artists learned about 6 famous artists - Banksy, Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso. They were then split into groups to recreate one of the famous works from that artist. They used the grid enlargement process to make sure everything was proportioned. Results are lovely!! We did grid enlargements on famous artists (M.C. Escher, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Ansel Adams, Leonardo Da Vinci, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, and Wassily Kandinsky) and the last two days we did Mini-Murals based on the artwork of Keith Haring. This week in Art class we picked a famous artist and then we created a grid enlargment. We chose from Andy Warhol, M.C Escher, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Ansel Adams, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso and Leonardo Da Vinci. After making a choice between these artists, we worked within our groups to recreate one of their pieces. |
